The Ozark Mountain Golf Tour rolled into Branson this week and was treated to a picture-perfect day at Holiday Hills. The 5200-yard, par-68 layout was in excellent shape — smooth greens, true rolls — but demanded tight tee shots and disciplined approaches. It may have looked inviting, but scoring well required serious precision.

Two players walked away with the elusive 10-piece chicken nugget — Derek Malcom and Blake Moore both swept their matches and racked up maximum points. Derek had the round of his OMG Tour career, striping the ball all day long. If not for an unfortunate meltdown on 18, he could’ve posted a personal best. Still, it was a dominant performance and a big step in the standings.

Three new names made their OMG Tour debut this week: Blake Poage, Justin Keith, and Joel Barrientos. Welcome to the madness, gentlemen. And speaking of new blood — Grant Jones continues to impress, jumping into the top spot of the regular season leaderboard. He may be a rookie, but he’s looking more and more like a problem.

Cody “BD” (self-proclaimed, still awaiting verification) Malcom blasted the Longest Drive of the day, while Blake Moore barely edged out Derek Malcom for Closest to the Pin. The Malcom boys will be buzzing for a while over that one. Some say it was inches, others say it was fate.

All eyes now turn to the first Elevated Event of the season — the 2-Man Scramble on Saturday, May 31st. Teams will be drawn randomly on the first tee box, so come ready to ride with anyone. The event will still be handicapped using 35% of the lower handicap and 15% of the higher. First place will earn 12 points, second 9, third through fifth will get 6, and anyone finishing 6th or lower still walks away with 3 points.
